This is a very unique Barbera. 100% Barbera grape, manually selected by Filippo and Gianni in one of the richest vintages ever, 2017.
The maniacal selection during the harvest was possible because the 2017 vintage was both abundant and rich (in sugar, acidity, and all the substances that make a wine colorful and incredibly tasty).
After the maceration and fermentation in the steel tank (both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation), the wine was put inside a red clay amphora for more than 1 year for aging.
The result is an astonishing barbera, unique in his flavor and in his taste. The best feature of this wine is that Barbera can hide very well the alcoholic sensation and transform it in sweetness and softness, helping the drinkability of this wine. This wine has got 17.5% vol alcohol, but you’ are not gonna guess it. It’s an incredibly fruity barbera, structured but easy drinking, with a tasty and thick sip. This wine was made for fun, for experimentation. It’s the first time we make a wine aged in amphora.
Gallino received a prize on this Barbera, the maximum possible for the Guida “Vini Buoni d’Italia” one of the most important wine guide in Italy.
