The SCHLOSS CASTELL Riesling 2020 comes from the best terroir of Castell and represent local quality blends. This Riesling is fresh, fragrant and has a lovely mineral acidity.
Grape
Castell archives reported that the Riesling was already cultivated in 1832 in Castell vineyards. Riesling is a classic German grape and is demanding as it ripens very late. Optimal conditions are provided in Castell by the heat-storing stony steep slopes. Because of their relatively high acidity, Riesling can have a very good shelf life (try also our 2007 Riesling Dry SCHLOSSBERG GG).
Winemaking
Selective hand-picking on 1st and 2nd October with 93° Oechsle, temperature-controlled fermentation at 18-20°C, kept on the yeast for five months in stainless steel tanks.
